A biog of Jamal Edwards from the Guardian

Jamal Edwards is the founder of SBTV which is an online boradcaster of music promos, video interviews and impromtu live performances from the UK rap scene and beyond. He started the channel in 2007 when he was only 16 which proves to everyone that it doesn't matter what age you are, you can still do it. He advices younger people to 'chase your dream...'. He films anywhere and everywhere and uses lots of footage and chooses from the best. The reason he started was because he got a video camera for Christmas. He decided to have a go filming ' I was filming foxes in my garden. When i uploaded that, I got 1,000 views and I was like wha? Let me just try something else'.

In 2007 when he started filming, grime music, the now ubiquitous hybrid of hip-hop and UK garage, was burgeoing. You wouldn't find it on mainstream TV, not yet,  so this meant that there was a gap in the market for an online channel dedicated to grime music.

Jamal Edawards started by experimenting for the channel by filming rappers. He filmed them on the street, backstage gigs or in the back of cars. This makes the story behind there music interesting as it's not all set up on a scene, its natural.

He then went on to work with big artists such as Ellie Goulding, Nicki Minaj and Bruno Mars and even Justin Bieber. The good thing about Jamal Edwards is he isn't bothered about the fame, he's just following his dream.

He's making money through SBTV advertising and has now got 50,000 subscribers and a total of 39 million video views. He is getting bigger and bigger each day, and recently signed with Sony RCA to create his own imprint within the label.

He is just a young boy who has followed what he wanted to do. He didnt need lots of money to start, he just took advantage of the use of technolgy. He's going to carry on persuing his dream aswell, hes going to New York to do what he did in England there.
