Animatics and Feedback

We first started our animatics by producing our story board for our music video which we split between the four of us so we all had the same amount of pictures to draw. We used the cameras to film each picture from our storyboard which was a ten second shot. We then uploaded these clips to the computer and started editing and eventually it fell together. We were pleased with the process of it but we found it hard to get the beat of the song right with the pictures which was the hardest part of it. We edited it between us so that we all knew how to work the software but it also meant we could all put our different ideas into our animatic. We tried our best to make the pictures match the beat of our song but when we watched it back we realised we hadn't quite got it right but this was good as this then meant that we would be more aware of it when we come to edit our actual music video.

When we watched them back we recorded feedback on our animatic of our other class friends and teachers views on it. They liked it but there was a few things to criticise. We have uploaded this so you can watch the video but this was also very useful to us as it meant that we could listen to others ideas and improve on our idea for our final music video.

Third Initial Idea

My third idea was to use the song 'Strip - Nathaha Bendingfield' as this song isn't very well known. The artist herself used to be very big but now she isn't very popular. This song has just got her singing in it but the lyrics are actually talking about stripping her but its a metaphor saying that she is what she is. She's not an artist who puts on a front; you get what you see. I think that a good reason to do a video to this song as it would have a lot of people to target it at.

I think that it would need to be a subtle video but you would have one main girl singing. I think that she she have subtle make up on and be very natural looking.

The storyline could be that she has started a new school and she is the new girl. Everyone is looking at very weridly like they do when your the 'new kid'. She is walking around and is singing and she finds this good looking boy who she has her eye on. It could cross cut between her speaking to this guy and her singing. Then a 'popular' girl who is very pretty comes over and pushes the singer away from speaking to the guy. This way she is trying to prove her point that shes not a bitch or trying to steal anyone. She is just a girl that you get what you see.

I think this is a good idea as its very differnent to the original video but also sends a message out to people. Natash Bedingfield herself isn't the most popular of all artist but she has had a few successful songs.


 

Second Initial Idea

The song 'Right now - Rihanna' also inspires me to want to do a music video for it. I think this would be a really fun to produce a music video too because I like Rihanna but it also features David Guetta in it so it isn't all singing like a lot of songs. It has a good amount of singing and DJing in it.

I think you could have either a club set theme or you could have people in a bar. I think with a DJ in the set somewhere and have different coloured lights around and a dance floor. You could have loads of people dressed in the same colour and the actual singer, a young girl, dressed in either less clothing or a different colour. This is so then the audience no who to follow.

A group of guys could then enter the club and meet all the girls and dance with them or be around them and buy them drinks etc. Along the same idea there could already be boys out there mixing with the girls and then make it obvious who the main girl is.

This would need to be developed on but I like the idea of the song as its has a mixture of sound in it.

 


Rihanna is very mainstream and is always in the Top 100 charts. She is well known all over the globe and as is David Guetta. You would need someone very exciting to look at and curvy to be the lead singer in the video. Rihanna has a very special look and dresses very different to eveyone else yet in mostly normal clothes.
